New single “Across The Western Ocean” out on November 21

Out on Friday, November 21, 2025, the new single by Gadan brings together a haunting traditional ballad and a high-energy instrumental reel set, blending the soul of Irish folk with the band’s unmistakable contemporary sound.

“Across the Western Ocean” is one of the oldest Irish and British sea shanties, a song of emigration sung by sailors and travellers crossing the Atlantic in the 19th century. In Gadan’s version, the tune is reborn with modern arrangements, rich harmonies and emotional drive, turning the ancient folk melody into a deeply human experience that connects past and present.

The second part of the single dives into the instrumental side of Irish tradition with a banjo driven version of “Green Groves of Erin” – with legendary Steve Martin banjo award winner Enda Scahilland “The Two Boys of Malin”, a fiery reel set built on two contrasting versions (minor and major) of the well-known traditional reel “The Boys of Malin.” Explosive and precise, it showcases Gadan’s distinctive blend of banjos, fiddle, guitar and mandolin capturing the raw energy and spirit of Irish traditional music while adding their unmistakable power and groove.

With this release, Gadan reaffirm their vision: reviving Irish traditional music with a modern edge, bringing the drive and intensity of folk into today’s soundscape. Their approach keeps the authenticity of the roots while delivering a bold, contemporary performance that resonates with both purists and new listeners.

“Across the Western Ocean” will be available on all major digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer and more. Follow Gadan on social media for updates, tour announcements and behind-the-scenes content.
