Irish music, American flavor, Italian seasoning
Gadan are an Irish and folk band built around three banjos, fiddle, mandolin and guitar, with no drums and no shortage of drive. The sound sits where Irish traditional music, Appalachian old time and bluegrass meet, which is a sentence that makes more sense once you have heard it than before. Audiences tend to arrive expecting one thing and leave having been handed several others.
With Enda Scahill of We Banjo 3
Joining the band on this run is Enda Scahill, founder of We Banjo 3 and one of the most decorated banjo players in Irish music. Scahill is a recipient of the Steve Martin Banjo Prize, awarded to musicians who have pushed the instrument somewhere new, and he spent the better part of a decade selling out rooms across the United States with We Banjo 3. He is not a guest star wheeled out for a novelty turn. He is in the band, and it shows.
For anyone who followed We Banjo 3 through their US years, this is the closest thing to a continuation of that story, with a different group of players and a noticeably different edge.

Some rooms on this tour are small by design, which is good news for the people in them and less good news for anyone who waits. Portland, Madison and St Louis are all worth booking early if you are anywhere within driving distance.
