Bluegrass Today have published their report on the 2026 edition of Bluegrass in La Roche, and we’re in it. You can read the full piece here.
Written by correspondent Michael Luchtan, the report runs through the whole week in the French Alps, and it’s worth reading in full if you want a sense of how big this festival has become. This was the 21st edition, with 28 concerts and 22 bands from 19 countries and five continents. With EWOB now gone, La Roche has effectively become the centre of gravity for bluegrass in Europe, and the festival was nominated again this year for the IBMA’s Event of the Year.
We played on the Sunday, which at La Roche is traditionally the night the programming wanders furthest from straight-ahead bluegrass, so we were in good company. Luchtan describes our set as one of the more intense of the day, and picks out our run through Cuckoo Bird, a Galway hornpipe, and Shady Grove.
He also mentions how we ended up there in the first place, which we rather like: the organisers came across us through the Your Roots Are Showing platform and decided on the spot to bring us over the Alps. Sometimes that’s all it takes.
